July 5, 2021: Raul Braganza is a Mumbai-based artist. While his musical taste is fairly eclectic, from the time he was a teen, his favourite music genre has always been Rock from the 80s and 90s, and so a lot of his own music is quite heavily influenced by bands like Bon Jovi, Guns & Roses, Def Leppard etc. “Better Place” by Raul has been recently released and is now wvailable across all streaming platform.
Speaking about the making of the song, Raul said, “The past year of living through a global pandemic has brought up a lot of varied feelings for almost all of us as we witness how fragile life can be. The sense of grief, loss, and the devastation of losing a loved one can make you experience a pain so excruciating, that can never be explained in words. With every passing day, week, or month, you see yourself oscillating between feeling angry, helpless, and sad. While everyone grieves differently, there’s still a deep universal understanding that all of us are in this together”.
Raul’s song writing process begins with him strumming his guitar and then adding lyrics as he goes along, something that “Better Place” is no exception to as well. Narrating a heart wrenching experience he further added, “On March 30th, 2021, my entire family was struck with tremendous pain when my precious, three-month-old nephew and Godson, Ian, left this world. The pain of not having had the chance to hold him or spend time with him is something that will always stay with me. We miss him deeply and he will be forever loved. No matter when or how we lose someone, the pain we go through can feel almost debilitating. However, while trying to come to terms with such a loss, there is always comfort in the knowledge that we will reunite with our loved ones in a ‘Better Place’. And so, while this song stems from a deep, personal loss, the feeling I’d like to leave listeners with, is one of hope”.
Talking about song Raul recounts, “The release of ‘Better Place’ was made possible by some very special people. Samantha Noella & Faustin Missier, thank you for your inputs, your guidance, and for making this release possible – I will always be truly grateful. Simon Reid, thank you for an amazing track and for understanding the emotions behind the song – the track is everything I wanted it to be. Vrikpal Singh Khambay, thank you for your engineering expertise and your “sound” advice – deeply appreciate it”.
