Emraan Hashmi & Himesh Reshammiya Reunite For ‘Afsaana Banaaya Aapne’ From Gunmaaster G9

Mumbai, 23^rd September 2026: Nearly two decades after their music became a defining part of a generation’s Bollywood soundtrack, Emraan Hashmi and Himesh Reshammiya reunite for ‘Afsaana Banaaya Aapne’, the latest song from Gunmaaster G9. Directed by Aditya Datt, the romantic action entertainer brings the trio together again following their first collaboration in 2005. Produced by Deepak Mukut, Hunar Mukut and Sangeeta Ahir, the film marks a nostalgic reunion while introducing the combination to a new generation. The full release of ‘Afsaana Banaaya Aapne’ follows the brief glimpse featured at the end of the film’s teaser, which had already sparked anticipation among fans waiting to hear the complete track.

Director Aditya Datt revealed that the soundtrack was developed over eight to nine months, with the team spending extensive time jamming, writing and creating the music together. “We worked on the music for more than eight-nine months. We all sat together, we jammed, we created and we wrote. That whole process has been superb. We really wanted to enjoy the music and make something we love,” said Datt, while also crediting Deepak Mukut for bringing the collaborators together.

For Emraan Hashmi, the reunion carries plenty of nostalgia, but the team has approached the song as a new musical chapter rather than simply recreating the past. “There is a lot of nostalgia attached to Himesh, Aditya and me coming together again. But the idea was never to recreate the past. ‘Afsaana Banaaya Aapne’ has its own emotion and its own place in Gunmaaster G9. That is what makes this reunion exciting,” Hashmi said. Himesh Reshammiya also highlighted the effort behind the film’s music, saying the tracks are in sync with the world of the film while their audio value takes the soundtrack to another level. Genelia Deshmukh described the song as playing a crucial role in the film, adding that teaming up with Emraan for an Emraan-Himesh number made the collaboration particularly special.
