The Year That Was – Wrapping Up 2022 on a High!

2022 has been a very exciting year for the industry overall. Post pandemic world was gearing up for their favourite artists and they definitely lived up to the expectations. Labels and artists came together to bring in the synergies that have uplifted the benchmarks of the industry altogether. From big bang collaborations to live shows, 2022 has it all for everyone. Here’s a look at some of the highlights of 2022 before we wrap the year!

International Collaborations

One of the biggest high points of the industry in 2022 was the collaboration between Badshah and J Balvin. A cross continental coming together of sounds and styles, Badshah and J Balvin along with Tainy gave us “Voodoo” which took the internet and streaming by a storm. There have been talks of more such big bang collaborations of Indian artists with international ones, more of this will be surely heard in 2023 and years to come. More such collaborations have come this year itself, Tulsi x KiDi, Armaan Malik x Ed Sheeran, and a few more.

Big Bang Tours of Indian Artists

While everyone went berserk upon the announcement and during the live concert of Post Malone, it was the excitement, gathering and fan frenzy for Indian artists’ shows that is more fulfilling to see. Badshah with his “Pagal Tour”, King with his “After Party Tour”, Divine with his “Gunehgaar Tour” have been driving the audiences in huge numbers. Guru Randhawa with his “Man of the Moon Tour” is all set to keep the momentum going, taking live shows arena to a newer high in India.

Biggest Party Anthems of 2022

This year saw some of the best artists giving some of the best party anthems for the listeners. Badshah, Raftaar, Yo Yo Honey Singh, King, have given a resurging Bollywood music a tough fight and have further consolidated the space for non film music. We can see the year ending on a high with “Gatividhi” by Yo Yo Honey Singh, “Players” by Badshah x Karan Aujla, and many more coming over the last few months to enthral us.

Grammy’s India Turn

2022 saw two artists from India taking center stage on the Global Awards platform. Rickey Kej and Falu took home Grammy’s for Best New Age Album and Best Children’s Music Album for the year respectively. There is a growing sense that Indian artists are slated for greater recognition and celebrations on the floor of Grammy’s in the years to come.

Legend of Sidhu Moose Wala grows for generations

While there has been much to celebrate, there is reason to feel remorseful too. Assassination of Sidhu Moose Wala brought the entire industry to a standstill for over a month this summer. Sidhu was arguably the most celebrated and fast rising stars from Punjabi music industry, scaling heights on the global platform. His work in music has become a stuff of legends now and he will be remembered for his superlative contribution towards the industry for generations to come. Sidhu Moose Wala, the Legend was born the day he was assassinated!
