Aabha Hanjura’s ‘O Ri Sakhi’ bridges Kashmir & Rajasthan in a soulful folk-fusion celebration

Mumbai, 7^th August 2026: Aabha Hanjura is bringing two rich Indian musical traditions together with her latest folk-fusion track, ‘O Ri Sakhi’. Rooted in the vibrant folk traditions of Kashmir and Rajasthan, the song creates a soulful musical dialogue through traditional melodies, rich folk instrumentation and contemporary production. For Aabha, the song represents a personal journey between musical traditions. “For me, ‘O Ri Sakhi’ is an ode to India’s festive and wedding folk traditions. Inspired by ‘Bhumbro’, the iconic Kashmiri folk song rooted in the Chakri style, I wanted to revisit a melody that has been part of my live performances for years and imagine where its story could travel next. That journey led me to Rajasthan, where Bhumbro found echoes in Bannaro and the region’s vibrant wedding traditions. Watching the colours, rhythms and emotions of Rajasthan blend so naturally with Kashmir’s folklore was deeply exciting as an artist. I have always believed that folk music survives by evolving and finding new conversations across cultures, and through ‘O Ri Sakhi’, I wanted to celebrate not just the music of Kashmir, but the shared emotions that connect communities across India and carry our stories into the future”, she shares.
