According to the report, eight in 10 respondents consider concert-going a regular part of their lives. Artist loyalty remains a key motivation, with 51% attending shows because they have followed an artist’s journey for years. In comparison, only 4% say fear of missing out motivates their attendance. These findings suggest that live music is increasingly driven by personal connections with artists and the meaning their music holds for listeners.

Beyond the performances, concerts are emerging as spaces for emotional connection and shared experiences. The report finds that 44% of respondents attend live shows hoping to feel emotionally healed. Meanwhile, 66% identify hearing an entire crowd sing a chorus together as the moment that gives them the biggest chills. Additionally, 56% say they have experienced a moment of connection with a stranger at a live event, highlighting the sense of belonging that live music can create.

Naman Pugalia, Chief Business Officer – Live Events, BookMyShow, said, “Something profound has changed in what India reaches for when it wants to feel most alive. In a world where so much of life happens alone and through a screen, a generation is choosing to gather because there are some things technology cannot manufacture – the feeling of belonging to a moment, together. We’ve spent years building the stages where that happens. This report is our attempt to understand the culture we’ve helped shape.”

The report also reveals how concert culture extends beyond the venue itself. From group chats and outfit planning to photographs, setlist searches and conversations after a show, audiences are building rituals around live experiences. These behaviours demonstrate how concerts have become social and cultural moments that continue long after the final song. For many fans, attending a show is now part of a broader lifestyle shaped by anticipation, community and shared memories.

Music discovery is another major takeaway, with 72% of respondents discovering a new artist at a BookMyShow Live show during the season. Live performances therefore offer artists an opportunity to reach audiences beyond streaming platforms, playlists and recommendation algorithms. The findings also reflect BookMyShow Live’s growing role in producing and curating experiences that bring together artists, genres and communities, from international performers making their India debuts to festivals connecting diverse audiences.
