Parimal Shais Revives ‘Curry Chatti’ Season 2 With Def Jam India, Reimagining Bollywood Classics Through Hip-Hop

Mumbai, 24^th September 2026: Parimal Shais brings back his hip-hop IP ‘Curry Chatti’ for Season 2 with Def Jam India, five years after the first season, turning iconic Bollywood melodies into contemporary Indian hip-hop records. The five-track series draws from Universal Music India’s Bollywood catalogue, with Parimal serving as producer across all five releases. A new track will arrive every week, creating a continuous run of reinterpretations that connect familiar Bollywood hooks with the sounds, writing and identities of contemporary hip-hop artists. The series opens with ‘DOLA RE’, featuring Nagpur rapper Naam Sujal and Bengaluru rapper DHP, reworking the iconic ‘Dola Re Dola’ into a fresh rap-driven record.

‘DOLA RE’ places the instantly recognisable Bollywood song in an entirely new sonic setting, with Parimal Shais providing the production foundation for Naam Sujal and DHP to bring their individual styles and city identities to the track. The energetic rap record sees the two artists trade verses around their journeys, cities and positions within India’s evolving hip-hop landscape. Sujal combines mythology, pop-culture references and his trademark wordplay, while DHP brings Bengaluru into the song through local references, flow and swagger. The reimagining also extends to the lyrics, turning the familiar phrase “Dola re dola, yeh 16 ko tola” into a rap punchline and establishing the playful, nostalgia-driven approach that defines the new season.

Speaking about Season 2, Parimal Shais says, “It’s been a few years since the first season, and I wanted to bring Curry Chatti back with a bigger idea around the music. Last season we didn’t have any official releases, so it feels good to finally have that this time around. A lot of the playful energy from the first season is still there, just with new samples, new artists. The idea has always been to create nostalgia through fresh rhythms, and DOLA RE is just the beginning. Can’t wait for everyone to see what we have in store!” Naam Sujal further shares, “DOLA RE was an interesting one because we were taking a song that’s so deeply familiar and looking at it through a completely different lens. DHP’s hook was already there, and that really inspired me to take it forward in my own way. Parimal’s production opened up a lot of room for DHP and me to bring our own writing and personalities into the record. It was a great experience seeing how three different creative perspectives came together.” DHP adds by saying, “Parimal really set the tone for this one, and working with Sujal made the record even more exciting. I really love these dudes on a personal level too, which you can hear in the track with how much fun we had with it. I think that chemistry, along with Parimal’s production, is what gives DOLA RE this feeling we been lookin for all this while.”

‘Curry Chatti’ Season 2 will continue with a new track every week, expanding its mix of Indian hip-hop voices and Bollywood nostalgia. The upcoming releases will feature artists including Yashraj, Siyaahi, Snappy Kaal, ThirumaLi, Fejo, Killa K and Vengayo, with each track drawing from a different selection within Universal Music India’s Bollywood catalogue.
