Mumbai, 14th October 2026: Pop stars Olivia Rodrigo and Chappell Roan are joining forces for a highly anticipated remix of ‘expectations’, a track from Rodrigo’s third studio album, you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love. The collaboration was officially announced on October 13, following a teaser that sparked excitement among fans. The revamped single and its accompanying music video are scheduled to arrive on October 15 in the US, making it an October 16 release in India. Produced by their longtime collaborator Daniel Nigro, the project brings together two of contemporary pop’s most influential voices.
The buzz began when Rodrigo shared a studio clip featuring a voice believed to be Roan’s saying, “Ooh, Olivia does remixes now.” The snippet offered a glimpse of a music production session, prompting fans to speculate about a potential collaboration. Soon after, Rodrigo confirmed the news through an Instagram announcement, sharing the remix’s cover artwork featuring both artists in retro-inspired outfits. The accompanying music video, directed by Bardia Zeinali, will also premiere alongside the track.
The collaboration builds on a friendship that has developed through years of shared musical connections. Roan previously opened for Rodrigo during the SOUR Tour and later joined the GUTS World Tour as a supporting act. She has also contributed backing vocals to several Rodrigo tracks, including ‘lacy’ and ‘obsessed’. Both artists share a longstanding creative connection with producer Daniel Nigro, making the new remix a natural extension of their musical relationship. Their reunion follows Roan’s appearance at Rodrigo’s inaugural Daisy Chain Fields festival in August, an event supporting charities focused on women and girls.
With ‘expectations’, Rodrigo and Roan bring their distinct pop identities together for a release that has already generated considerable fan interest. The original track appeared on Rodrigo’s third album, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, while ‘expectations’ reached No. 20 on the Billboard Hot 100. The remix marks a new creative direction for Rodrigo and an important milestone in the pair’s musical journey. As anticipation builds, the release offers fans an exciting meeting of two Grammy-winning artists whose friendship has grown alongside their success. The ‘expectations’ remix and its official music video arrive October 15 in the US, or October 16 in India.
