A managing director at Birla Open Minds and Birla Brainiacs, Nirvaan Birla has ventured professionally into music. As an artist, his first original release is “Shankaraa”, inspired by his own connect with the Lord Shiv. With an album in the making, we took some time out to discuss about what looks forward to do in the music space. Read more below:
Shankara is your debut track. What inspired you to start your musical journey with this piece?
The first song I ever heard as a child was a Shiv song. That memory has stayed with me throughout my life, so it felt natural that my first recorded track would pay homage to that beginning. Shankara isn’t just a song, it’s a spiritual connection and a tribute to where it all started for me.
What can listeners expect from your debut album?
The album will feature seven tracks, three deeply spiritual compositions like Shankara and four Hindi pop-rock tracks. It’s my way of blending cultural devotion with contemporary soundscapes.

Your live shows have received a good response. How do you create those experiences?
My performances are designed to be immersive. We use candlelit settings, invite audiences to sing along, and create an atmosphere that feels like a satsang. People often share that the music helps them deal with stress, anxiety, or just brings them joy, that’s incredibly fulfilling for me.
How do you balance your role as Managing Director at BLA Open Minds with your music career?
It hasn’t been easy, but I’ve worked hard to put systems in place at work. That’s allowed me to fully commit to my music while ensuring my responsibilities are still met.

What defines success for you as an artist?
For me, success isn’t about streams or numbers. It’s about the emotional impact, whether someone feels calmer, happier, or more connected after hearing my music.
What’s next for you?
I’m preparing for large-scale performances in Mumbai, Jaipur, and Delhi. And of course, I can’t wait for listeners to hear the full album.
As Nirvaan Birla embarks on this musical journey, Shankara serves as more than just a debut, it’s a statement of purpose. Blending devotion with contemporary sounds, his work reflects a desire to create music that heals, uplifts, and connects. Whether through the deeply spiritual compositions in his album or the high-energy Hindi pop-rock tracks, Nirvaan’s goal remains simple: to leave his listeners feeling better than before. With upcoming large-scale performances and an album that promises to push creative boundaries, Nirvaan is poised to make his mark as an artist who leads with heart and authenticity.
