Hamza Rahimtula bridges House & Carnatic worlds with Mihai ft. Dr. R. Srikanth

Mumbai, 30th August 2025: South Asian DJ, producer, and Wind Horse Records head Hamza Rahimtula is back with Mihai, a house–Carnatic crossover featuring renowned vocalist, composer, and educator Dr. R. Srikanth. Following the success of his acclaimed album Origins with Rajasthan Folkstars, Hamza continues to expand the dialogue between India’s deep-rooted traditions and the global electronic landscape.

Opening with playful house percussion, Mihai evolves into a rhythmic conversation where Srikanth’s Konnakol (Carnatic vocal percussion) dances with Hamza’s club-ready grooves. The mridangam and soaring melodic vocals add layers of mystique, culminating in a euphoric climax that captures the spirit of East meets West.

Dr. Srikanth adds, “The groove Hamza built inspired me to unleash Konnakol in ways I’d usually reserve for classical settings. Mihai is about bridging worlds, and it was exhilarating to see tradition merge seamlessly with modern club energy.”

The release follows Hamza’s landmark year:

  • Origins album with Rajasthan Folkstars redefining cross-cultural electronic music.
  • A vinyl-only remix of Jordan Strong’s This Must Be The Place, showcasing Hamza’s peak-time tribal house signature.
  • The “All Vinyl. All Night.” India tour with Unnayanaa, celebrating deep crates, classic rotary mixers, and an old-school ethos.

Mihai is out now on Wind Horse Records.
