Mumbai, 4th August 2025: As climate disasters accelerate across the globe, The Down Troddence (TDT) returns with their most urgent and evocative release yet – Monsoon in Kannur. This furious and cinematic track serves as a requiem for a planet on the brink, demanding accountability rather than sympathy.
The fourth single from their upcoming album AYAKTIHIS (As You All Know, This Is How It Is), Monsoon in Kannur is a sonic journey that fuses Kerala’s ancient folk traditions like Theyyam with relentless metal, tribal percussion, orchestral strings, and raw synth textures. Opening with tranquil melodies before evolving into a full-force wall of sound, the composition mirrors Gaia’s transformation — from nurturing life-giver to vengeful force of nature.
“It’s a requiem not just for forests or species,” says Munz, TDT’s vocalist, “but for the relationship we once had with the Earth. This song is our way of mourning — and holding a mirror to humanity.”

The music video, directed by Anamay Prakash, brings this vision to life with haunting visuals. Featuring Anarkali Marikar as Gaia, alongside Rajesh Madhavan and Tanvi Ram as Homo Sapiens, the narrative flips the familiar script: nature isn’t the backdrop — it’s in control.
With grief, rage, and precision, Monsoon in Kannur doesn’t just narrate the story of climate collapse — it makes you feel it.
