Big Sean & Kanye West reunite in Chicago after years of feud during surprise concert appearance
Mumbai, 7th September 2026: Big Sean and Kanye West have seemingly put years of public tension behind them, reuniting onstage during Ye’s homecoming concert in Chicago. Sean made a surprise appearance at Soldier Field on September 4, joining West for a nostalgic run through their collaborations and his own hit ‘I Don’t Fuck With You’. The unexpected reunion quickly became one of the biggest moments of Ye’s Chicago shows.
The moment carries particular significance given the history between the two rappers. West discovered and signed Big Sean to G.O.O.D. Music in 2007, helping launch the Detroit rapper’s career. However, their relationship publicly deteriorated in 2021. Sean had claimed that West owed him $6 million, while West later described signing Sean as the “worst thing” he had done. Their Chicago reunion therefore represented a striking reversal of years of public friction.
Sean and West performed their fan-favourite collaborations ‘Clique’ and ‘Mercy’, with 2 Chainz joining them for the latter. Sean also delivered ‘I Don’t Fuck With You’, turning the performance into a celebration of their complicated musical history. The emotional tone shifted further when Sean told the Chicago crowd, “Chi-Town, I love you forever,” before addressing West with affection and appreciation. West responded by calling Sean “fam.”
The reunion was part of West’s highly publicised return to live performances in the United States. His Chicago homecoming also featured appearances from artists including Twista and Future, alongside several other major names across the two-night run. For Big Sean and Ye, however, the surprise collaboration carried a different weight. Once mentor and protégé, the two artists now appear to have reopened a musical connection that had been defined by conflict for years. In a city deeply connected to West’s career, their reunion became an unexpected reminder of hip-hop’s ability to turn old chapters into new moments.
