Arijit Singh begins a new era with ‘Raina’, collaborating with Sheykhar Ravjiani

Mumbai, 5^th March 2026: Arijit Singh has stepped into a bold new artistic chapter with the release of ‘Raina’, his first independent single following his announcement of retirement from playback singing. The evocative indie pop ballad sees him reunite with longtime friend and legendary composer Shekhar Ravjiani, delivering a track that is intimate, poetic, and deeply resonant.

Composed and arranged by Sheykhar Ravjiani for his independent label Garuudaa Musiic, ‘Raina’ is rooted in romance and metaphor, drawing inspiration from the idea of comparing one’s beloved to the night, vast, mesmerizing, and quietly powerful. The title itself, another word for ‘night’ in Hindi, becomes a tribute to a love that feels infinite and all-encompassing.

“In the case of Raina, the thought of comparing one’s love to the night seemed like such a beautiful way to express the feeling. Sometimes all it takes is a beautiful melody coupled with deeply moving lines to bring life to the emotions behind a song idea”, says Sheykhar.

Penned by acclaimed lyricist Priya Saraiya, the song carries a lyrical tenderness that lingers long after the final note. Sonically, ‘Raina’ unfolds as a contemporary soft rock composition driven by electric guitars and bass-led rhythms, blending classic romance with a modern sonic edge. Immersive yet restrained, the track mirrors the stillness of night, expansive, calm, and profoundly emotional.
