Kobalt partners with Madverse Music to power the global rise of India’s independent music economy

The global independent publisher joins forces with one of South Asia’s fastest-growing creator platforms to unlock sustainable publishing income for Indian artists worldwide.

New Delhi, 16th January 2026: Kobalt, the world’s leading independent music publisher, has announced a landmark global publishing partnership with India-based Madverse Music, a tech-driven music distribution, publishing, and marketing company empowering over 150,000 independent artists and labels across India and South Asia.

The collaboration marks a significant step forward in strengthening the global infrastructure for Indian and South Asian music, ensuring that creators are better equipped to monetise, protect, and scale their work internationally.

Through this partnership, Kobalt will provide Madverse’s songwriters, composers, and producers with comprehensive global publishing administration, including enhanced royalty collection, accurate metadata management, and expanded sync opportunities across more than 180 territories worldwide.

Speaking on the partnership, Rohan Nesho Jain, CEO of Madverse Music, said, “This partnership with Kobalt represents a pivotal moment in our mission to empower India’s independent music community. For too long, Indian creators have left money on the table simply because the infrastructure to collect global royalties was broken and almost non-existent. Publishing royalties are essentially a musician’s pension fund – they generate income long after the initial release, sometimes for generations. Through this collaboration, we’re ensuring that Indian independent artists can finally access and protect these earnings seamlessly, no matter where in the world their music is played. This is about more than just collecting royalties; it’s about building sustainable careers and giving our artists the financial foundation they deserve. When independent voices are properly compensated and protected, the entire music ecosystem becomes richer and more diverse.”

From Kobalt’s perspective, the alliance underscores the growing global relevance of India’s independent music movement. Simon Moor, Managing Director APAC, Kobalt, added, “Madverse has built an impressive ecosystem that supports one of the most dynamic independent music communities in the world. By combining their creator-first approach with Kobalt’s global publishing infrastructure, we’re committed to ensuring Madverse songwriters and producers have the resources, accuracy, and reach they need to succeed on an international scale.”

Together, Kobalt and Madverse are laying the groundwork for a more equitable and globally connected music publishing landscape, one where Indian and South Asian independent creators are no longer peripheral players, but active participants in the global music economy.
