Warner Music bets on South India: Gemini Music Catalogue Acquisition, Magic Frames & Gautham Vasudev Menon partnerships

Mumbai, 16th October 2026: Warner Music India is strengthening its presence in South Indian music through major catalogue acquisitions and strategic partnerships spanning Tamil and Malayalam cinema. Announced today, the expansion includes the acquisition of the Gemini Music catalogue, a long-term deal with filmmaker Gautham Vasudev Menon, and a partnership with Malayalam production house Magic Frames.

The Gemini Music acquisition brings iconic Tamil film soundtracks into Warner Music India’s repertoire, including Nanban, Thuppakki, Mayakkam Enna, Singam 2 and Paradesi. The catalogue features music by celebrated composers Harris Jayaraj, G. V. Prakash Kumar and Devi Sri Prasad. Meanwhile, the agreement with Gautham Vasudev Menon covers past and upcoming releases, including popular tracks such as “Maruvaarthai” from Enai Noki Paayum Thota and A. R. Rahman’s “Thalli Pogathey” from Achcham Yenbadhu Madamaiyada, alongside independent music and future projects.

Warner Music India’s partnership with Magic Frames, founded by producer and distributor Listin Stephen, adds more than 500 Malayalam tracks to its repertoire, including music from Kaduva, Jana Gana Mana, Driving Licence, Gold and Vilayath Buddha. Under the long-term agreement, Warner Music will become the global release partner for future soundtracks and music videos from films produced, acquired or distributed by Magic Frames. The expansion builds on Warner Music India’s majority investment in Divo in 2023, strengthening its regional capabilities across distribution, publishing, label operations and digital media.

Alongside its catalogue investments, Warner Music India is expanding its new-release pipeline across South Indian languages. Recent momentum includes “Mutta Kalaki” by G. V. Prakash Kumar and Ken Karunas, which reached the top three on YouTube Charts India. Upcoming projects include Dhanush’s OM, featuring music by Sai Abhyankkar, Malayalam film 40 Days of House Party, scored by Bibin Ashok, and Oru Startup Kadha, featuring music by Paal Dabba. By combining established film-music catalogues with new releases and global distribution capabilities, Warner Music India is positioning South Indian music for wider audiences in India and internationally.
