Mumbai, 12th October 2026: Universal Music India brings together singer Madhur Sharma and emerging vocalist Inayat Kaur Bajaj for ‘Ruswa’, a soulful new single produced by Hiten. Exploring the pain of incomplete love, the track captures the emotions of longing, heartbreak and holding on to someone through memories, even when a relationship may never fully belong to you. With its emotive vocals and contemporary production, ‘Ruswa’ brings together two artists at different stages of their musical journeys.
With over a decade in the industry, Madhur Sharma has built a loyal audience through songs such as ‘Adhoora’, ‘Tera Rang’, ‘Poori Tarah Se’ and ‘Tu Jaanda Ae’. Known for his soulful renditions inspired by the legacy of Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, he has also featured on ‘Sanson Ki Mala’ from Mirzapur: The Movie. Joining him is Inayat Kaur Bajaj, a Top 30 finalist on Indian Idol Season 15 and a finalist on Sing Dil Se. Drawing from Indian Classical, Punjabi folk, Bollywood, Western Rock and Pop, and Opera, Inayat continues to establish her identity in the independent music scene.

Speaking about the collaboration, Madhur Sharma shares, “‘Ruswa’ is a song that stays with you because of the emotions it carries. Working with Inayat has been really special because of the sensitivity and honesty she brings to the song. Hiten has also done a beautiful job of shaping the production around those emotions and bringing the different elements together. I think the combination of all three of us has given the song its own identity.” Inayat adds, “Collaborating with Madhur has been a really special experience for me. He brings so much experience and understanding to the music, and working alongside him has been a great learning experience. Hiten’s production adds another layer to the emotion of ‘Ruswa’ and really allows both our voices to come through.”
Behind the music, Hiten brings his contemporary production sensibilities to the collaboration. With over 5.1 million monthly Spotify listeners, the producer has worked with artists including Badshah, King, Kumar Sanu, Karan Aujla, Arijit Singh and Raftaar. Explaining his approach, Hiten says, “‘Ruswa’ came together beautifully because Madhur and Inayat bring two very different but complementary qualities to the song. My role was to create a soundscape that allowed both of them to shine while keeping the emotion of the song at the centre.” Rooted in the timeless experience of loving, losing and still holding on, ‘Ruswa’ is now available to listen to online.
