Saranssh Sharma’s ‘Khaali’ is an emotive, cinematic folk ballad born from vulnerability & stillness

New Delhi, 24th November 2025: Delhi-based singer-songwriter Saranssh Sharma has recently released ‘Khaali’, an intimate, cinematic folk ballad that captures the ache, confusion, and quiet courage that come with confronting one’s inner emptiness. Written, composed, and performed by Saranssh himself, and produced by Metalpump (Aditya Rawat), ‘Khaali’ arrives as one of his most personal creations yet .

What began as a moment of emotional overwhelm transformed into a song that became a lifeline. Saranssh wrote “Khaali” in a single moment of raw honesty, using music as a way to cope with unanswered questions and the weight of ambition. A year later, without expectations, he submitted the track to the Rise Del Singer-Songwriter Competition — and it won, completing a poetic full circle in his journey.

“Khaali was born one night before a gig when I was struggling to make sense of how life was unfolding. Writing became my way to cope, and the song poured out. A year later, I entered a competition without expecting much—and Khaali won. Life came full circle, and it reminded me why I create music in the first place”, says Saranssh.

The sound of ‘Khaali’: Minimal, Emotive & Cinematic

‘Khaali’ is built on a delicate acoustic foundation, supported by warm electric guitars, violins, atmospheric croons, and subtle percussion. Drawing inspiration from Angus & Julia Stone, Lizzy McAlpine, and Damien Rice, the track moves from quiet introspection to a sweeping, cinematic release that mirrors the emotional turbulence at its core.

The song explores inner emptiness & self-reflection, loneliness behind ambition, romanticising the past and future, the search for meaning, belonging, and peace.

Guided closely by Tanishq Seth (Founder, Fresh Lime Studios), the track grew from a raw voice-and-guitar demo into a full-bodied emotional experience. It has also been readied for an upcoming Dolby Atmos release, expanding its sonic depth.
