Mumbai, 15th November 2025: London-based Telugu rapper Ronn teams up with British–Telugu vocalist Saloni for ‘PURPLE’, an Afro-Rap track that translates emotion into colour. Fusing introspective calm with driven ambition, the song marks a new chapter for South Asian indie music on the global stage.
Inspired by a songwriting exercise, Ronn recalls closing his eyes, absorbing the moment, and seeing ‘purple’, a feeling that shaped the entire song. Produced by German duo waytoolost and engineered by Tweeko, ‘PURPLE’ flows through ambient textures, Afrobeat rhythms, and Telugu lyricism, drawing sonic influence from Omah Lay, Asake, and Central Cee.

Speaking about the track, Ronn shares, “‘PURPLE’ feels like emotion in color. It’s a song that came from a simple feeling, when I closed my eyes, I saw purple. That feeling guided the whole record. It’s about gratitude, identity, and finding calm in the chaos. I want listeners to feel that mix of ambition and peace, to connect with the vibe as much as the words.”

Saloni adds by saying, “I’m so excited to be on this track repping the Telugus! It’s my first time working with another Telugu artist, and the track we put together really brings out the versatility of Telugu indie music from rap to melodic tunes. Can’t wait for everyone to hear this!”

Directed by Jai Sarvesh, the music video captures the essence of Telugu culture abroad. Shot across East and West London in a single day, the highlight came unexpectedly: filming coincided with the Chariot Festival at the Eastham Temple. The resulting visuals, with crowds celebrating in the streets, infuse the video with authenticity, energy, and cultural pride.
‘PURPLE’ is out now on all major platforms.
