Hailing from Kashmir, Yawar Abdal has carved a unique niche as “The Kashmiri Sufi Rocker,” bringing Persian, Urdu, and Kashmiri poetry to new audiences. Inspired by his grandfather, he famously quit his day job a decade ago to pursue his passion. He shot to fame in 2017 with “Tamanna,” a single blending Ghalib, Mahjoor, and Khusrow, which garnered over 11 million YouTube views.
