Mumbai, 28th August 2025: SHAKTI VOLUME 2 is getting released tomorrow, a collaborative album by Arashkha (Arash Khalatbari) and Sukanya Chattopadhyay, will be available across all major streaming platforms.
Born out of a creative collaboration initiated by EarthSync’s Sonya Mazumdar, SHAKTI VOLUME 2 continues the dialogue that began in 2020 during the pandemic and matured through residencies and recordings across Auroville, Reunion Island, and Lithuania. The project is a sonic exploration of feminine energy, tradition, migration, and cultural intersections—a bold step in experimental fusion where Indian classical vocals meet Lithuanian chants and ambient electronica.

One of the album’s highlights, “ZAMIN” (meaning earth in Persian, Sanskrit, and Lithuanian), blends Sutartine chants by Lithuanian vocalists Viltė Ambrazaitytė and Laurita Peleniute with Sukanya’s Thumri-inspired love song, crafting a truly global soundscape. Other tracks like “Panjasseman”, which reimagines the Dadra form in an unusual five-beat cycle, and “Mahtab”, a moonlit journey through Raga Misra Pilu intertwined with Tagore and Joydeb, extend the album’s creative range.
Speaking about the collaboration, Arashkha says, “This album is the result of a meeting of two souls. Sukanya feels like family to me, like a sister. We found we had a lot in common.” Sukanya adds, “We’re trying to capture unfelt realities and collective inspiration. It’s not about a new vision, but about asking: ‘What if?’”

The album also stands as a tribute to the sacred feminine—inspired by the 2022 feminist movement in Iran and rooted in the idea of Shakti as divine feminine energy, central to both Hindu and Lithuanian traditions.
Recorded in Auroville and Reunion Island, SHAKTI VOLUME 2 is not just an auditory experience but a multisensory narrative, enriched with visuals and dance elements created by Arashkha, weaving footage from India, Lithuania, and Reunion Island.
With Sukanya’s genre-defying artistry and Arashkha’s decades-long exploration of cultural storytelling, SHAKTI VOLUME 2 is a movement of thought, sound, and spirit that transcends borders.
