Mumbai, 22nd October 2026: Sharon Osbourne has reflected on ‘Back To The Beginning’, the landmark concert celebrating Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath, describing it as a tribute to artists who have long been overlooked by the mainstream music industry. Speaking at the London premiere of Ozzy & Black Sabbath: Back To The Beginning, Sharon said the event celebrated a genre whose artists were once dismissed but now fill stadiums worldwide. Held at Villa Park in Birmingham in July 2025, the concert marked Ozzy’s final solo performance and the last show by Black Sabbath’s original line-up together. The event brought together major rock and metal acts, including Metallica, Guns N’ Roses, Slayer, Pantera, Tool, Alice In Chains and Gojira, alongside special guests such as Yungblud, Steven Tyler and Billy Corgan. Organised by Sharon and featuring musical direction from Rage Against The Machine guitarist Tom Morello, the show raised approximately £11 million for charity.

For Sharon, it represented not only a farewell to her husband’s extraordinary career but also a celebration of heavy metal’s enduring cultural impact. “It represents a genre of music, a community, and these people have been considered the bastards of the music industry for so long,” she said. “It’s finally got to [the point] where you see artist after artist that are filling stadiums now with this music, and it’s just wonderful to see it.”

Sharon also revealed the physical challenges Ozzy faced in the lead-up to the performance. Doctors had reportedly warned him just 10 days before the concert that his health might prevent him from taking the stage. Speaking about his determination, she explained that he was “just praying that his lungs would work and that he could sing”, as emphysema made breathing difficult. His setlist was carefully selected around what he could manage vocally that day, allowing him to perform solo classics including “Crazy Train” and “Mama, I’m Coming Home” before reuniting with his Black Sabbath bandmates for “War Pigs”, “Iron Man” and “Paranoid”.

The event also featured actor Jason Momoa as host, although Sharon admitted she kept his presenting role a surprise until the last minute. After he initially contacted her to request tickets, she revealed that she wanted him to introduce the bands and address the crowd. Ozzy died aged 76 on July 22, 2025, just 17 days after the concert. The upcoming film, Ozzy & Black Sabbath: Back To The Beginning, now offers fans an opportunity to revisit his final performance on the big screen. Beyond its emotional significance, the release celebrates the legacy of an artist and a genre that transformed rock music and inspired generations of musicians.
