Mali Returns With ‘Saviour Complex’, A Raw First Glimpse Into Upcoming Album ‘Where Was I?’
Mumbai, 8th September 2026: Mali has entered a new musical chapter with ‘Saviour Complex’, the first single from the artist’s upcoming album Where Was I?. Written and composed by Mali, the track dives into self-doubt, emotional exhaustion and the complicated instinct to save others while struggling with your own battles. Instead of presenting a polished version of vulnerability, ‘Saviour Complex’ embraces its contradictions. It becomes an intimate reflection on relationships, regret and the limits of being someone else’s emotional anchor.
The song’s writing moves through restless thoughts and digital-age anxiety before arriving at its central emotional conflict. Mali sings about missing someone enough to reach out, only to regret the decision afterwards. That tension gives the track its emotional bite. The repeated refusal to become someone’s “saviour” becomes less about indifference and more about recognising personal boundaries. Beneath the frustration is a deeper feeling of being affected more than one wants to admit. The result is a song that turns emotional confusion into something direct, sharp and deeply relatable.

Musically, Mali has built the track with a strong collaborative team. Keshav Dhar and Mali produced the song, with Jehangir Jehangir on drums and Adil Kurwa on bass. Guitars come from Keshav Dhar and Apurv Isaac, while Mali handles synths. Mallika Barot and Aria Nanji contribute backing vocals. The track was mixed by Keshav Dhar and mastered by Forrester Savell. The wider creative world of ‘Saviour Complex’ also extends into its music video, directed by Jishnu Guha and Mali, with Ihjaz Aziz serving as Director of Photography. Natasha Vakil produces the visual, while Jishnu Guha handles editing and colour.
