Maahi Zaveri Enters Singer-Songwriter Space With Debut Single ‘Piya Bina’

Mumbai, 28^th August 2026: At just 21, Maahi Zaveri is stepping into a new chapter of her musical journey with “Piya Bina,” her debut single as a singer-songwriter. Released by Merchant Records and available across platforms, the song marks Maahi’s first original composition, with the young Hindustani classical vocalist taking charge of the vocals, lyrics and composition herself. Managed by Collabor8, the release introduces an artist who is deeply rooted in Indian classical music while exploring a more personal and contemporary form of musical expression.

Drawing inspiration from Raag Madhuvanti and Raag Miyan Malhar, “Piya Bina” explores the timeless emotion of viraaha, the pain and restlessness of separation from a beloved. Set against the atmosphere of saawan, Maahi’s composition captures sleepless nights, tear-filled eyes and memories that become more vivid in someone’s absence. Its intimate poetry and classical sensibility give the song an emotional character that connects traditional musical language with the experiences and expression of a young artist.

Maahi’s debut comes after more than a decade of rigorous training in Hindustani classical music. She holds a Sangeet Visharad degree from Akhil Bhartiya Gandharva Mahavidyalaya and has received several recognitions and scholarships, including the Indian Oil Corporation Scholarship, Smt. Rekha Date Memorial Scholarship, Mitra Foundation Scholarship and the CCRT Young Artist Scholarship from the Government of India. Her training also extends to Tabla, Bharatanatyam and playback singing, adding to her versatility as a performer.

With “Piya Bina,” Maahi Zaveri presents herself as part of a new generation of musicians seeking to carry tradition forward rather than move away from it. She has been actively involved in promoting classical music through baithaks and cultural events, while also contributing her voice to theatrical productions and short films and collaborating with established artists. The single features Maahi on vocals, composition and lyrics, with production by Aakash Rajan, sarod by Aditya Apte, tabla by Dhaivat Mehta, handpan by Ishaan Zaveri, and mixing and mastering by Adarsh Vishwakarma.
