Raja Kumari earns Grammy Nomination for ‘Sounds Of Kumbha’, a spiritual fusion that places India on the global stage

Mumbai, 14th November 2025: Indian-American rapper, singer, and songwriter Raja Kumari has once again carved her place on the world map, earning a Grammy nomination at the 68th Annual Grammy Awards (2026) as a featured artist on Siddhant Bhatia’s album, Sounds Of Kumbha. The project competes in the Best Global Music Album category, marking a powerful moment where Indian spirituality, tradition, and contemporary sound come together on a global platform.

Rooted in the energy of the Mahakumbha festival, Sounds Of Kumbha is a sonic pilgrimage — a bridge between divinity and humanity, crafted by composer-producer Siddhant Bhatia. Featuring a tapestry of Indian and international artists, the album flows between ritualistic resonance and modern musical fluidity, offering listeners an immersive spiritual experience that transcends geography.

Globally known for her electric fusion of Indian classical influence with hip-hop and pop, her artistic direction in recent years has leaned deeply into devotional and introspective soundscapes. Her 2024 album, Kashi to Kailash, marked the beginning of this spiritual chapter, and Sounds Of Kumbha extends that journey with poetic intent.

The collaboration itself was serendipitous. Kumari recorded her vocals just before leaving for the actual Kumbh Mela — a symbolic alignment of art and destiny. Recapturing that memory, she says:

“I remember telling Siddhant, Kumbh is never over for me,” she shares. “This album carries that spirit, it was made with no expectation, no attachment, just devotion. To see it reach the Grammys is a reminder that what’s created in faith always finds its way.”

This recognition marks Raja Kumari’s second Grammy nomination, the first being for her work as a songwriter for Iggy Azalea. For an artist who began her journey as a classical dancer before rising to global acclaim, Sounds of Kumbha represents a full-circle moment — a return to her cultural roots, reframed through experience, identity, and spiritual awakening. As she prepares to bring Kashi to Kailash to stages like NMACC, this Grammy nod reaffirms her place as one of the most distinctive voices connecting India’s spiritual heritage to the global music narrative.
